Is Your Business Future Ready?

As our second birthday approaches in May and we welcome a new staff member to the team, we’ve taken the time to reflect on what we’ve learned over the last two years and how these lessons can help our clients build a stronger and more sustainable business.

Create a Solid Foundation

We all know the importance of a solid foundation in infrastructure, but when it comes to business, many companies tend to develop plans and templates as the need arises. This means the foundation of the business is built on what it looks like today, rather than what it will look like in three or five years.

Despite launching Linéaire Projects with only two directors, we knew we had to create a foundation that would support the business for many years to come. Our experience working with large companies inspired us to think big and plan ahead. On day one, we developed a clear governance structure, standardised templates, Work Health Safety plans, employee contracts and more.

Two years later, we have reaped the benefits of using a ‘big brand’ operational model, as we now have everything in place to meet our clients’ needs. If you’re planning future growth, now is the time to set the groundwork for managing it on a day-to-day basis, so your business is prepared for the changes to come.

Foster a positive culture

Workplace culture not only has a significant impact on your office environment, but can also determine the kind of clients and staff you attract. It’s something that is established at a leadership level and filters down throughout the business. For this reason, good leadership is critical to fostering a positive workplace culture.

At Linéaire Projects, we thought about the culture of our company long before we opened the doors. We documented our vision and values, as well as how they would translate into everyday practice. For example, we agreed to only work with ethical clients and have a paperless office, to maintain integrity and minimise our environmental footprint.

A positive workplace culture is particularly important during times of change, such as moving to a new office space or restructuring the business. By establishing your values early in the process and making sure they are present in every area of your business, you’ll enjoy a more efficient transition and more engaged staff.

Look to the future

If the pace of technology continues at its present rate, we can’t imagine the workplace tools we’ll be using 10 years from now. However, just because we can’t predict the future, doesn’t mean we can’t plan ahead. Undertaking a review of your technology is one of the best ways to streamline and improve your communications, particularly if you’re moving to a new premises.

We designed Linéaire Projects so our team and clients could enjoy all the benefits of modern technology from day one. This included cloud-based storage, mobile devices and platforms that allows everyone to communicate and share files easily, no matter where they are. Of course, we’ll continue to upgrade our technology as we grow, but this will be easier now that we have a good understanding of what tools we need in our business.

With technology, it’s not possible to future-proof your business, but you can make sure it’s future ready. Establishing the right infrastructure on day one is not only more affordable in the long run, but will help your staff become more efficient, so they can work together to achieve your business goals.

Build a strong business

Over the last two years, we’ve realised that the efforts we took to make our business future ready on day one has paid off in many different ways. Our clients are thrilled with the results we have achieved and we can confidently move forward with our plans for growth without any significant structural, cultural or technological barriers. It’s the same approach we use to deliver project management services to clients, every day.
